Samsung S5600 Blade - Hot Phone, Bad Battery

Blackberry phones are really popular and the design is being sought of because of its easiness to handle and use. Having a complete QWERTY keypad on the face of the phone makes it look quite sophisticated though. It also looks ugly to some, it looks like a honeycomb. However, aside from its appearance the keypads really do add usability. It’s got all the things you need in front of you. It's got shortcut buttons that will run the applications that you need.

What I have here in this review isn't a Blackberry phone, it's a new Samsung Touchscreen phone. This touchscreen phone has great usability and is simpler and more usable than having all complete shortcuts and all buttons together on the face of the mobilephone.

This is the new Samsung Blade S5600v. The Samsung Blade S5600v is amazingly easy and comfortable to use. It doesn't have complicated buttons and also has an excellent user interface which also emphasizes usability. It's practically a spoon feed mobilephone with great looks! Here are the details for this great phone.

Design
The Samsung S5600v Blade has almost the design features as that of the Samsung S5800 Jet, only that the latter is longer. Its overall size is only 102.8 x 54.8 x 12.9 mm, it only weighs 92 grams too. It has a 2.8 Inch 16 Million Colour Touch Screen displaying 240 x 320 pixels resolution. The screen has excellent display quality. The screen is exposed on the front and it only has three buttons. On the left is the call button, the center is the cancel button and the last one is the end call button. The big middle buttons is very useful. It's the only button you'd press when you're browsing or navigating the mobilephone.

The user interface is also very easy. It is user friendly and it has 3 different screens. You can swipe it to the sides to reveal the other screens. The three screens gives more freedom to customize it to you liking since of course, one screen won’t fit all the widgets that you would like to add.

Multimedia
The Samsung S5600v Blade has multimedia features that you will like. It's got a decent music player which can play MP3, AAC and WMA. It has DNSe (Digital Natural Sound Engine) which makes sound quality good.

You can watch MPEG4, H263, H264 and WMV formats on its Video Player. You can also play and download games for your entertainment.

Messaging
The Samsung S5600v Blade supports SMS (Text Messaging) and MMS (Multimedia Messaging), sending and receiving aren’t a problem. You can also send and receive Emails.

Calling
Calling on the Samsung S5600v is as good as any smartphone. It has Quad Band network connectivity, utilizing four frequencies in GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900. This means the phone is great for roaming allowing you to have great connectivity even in between countries.

It has 3G HSDPA (HSDPA 900 and 2100) which is efficient and makes Video Calling smooth and fast.

Camera
The Samsung S5600v Blade has great camera features and it is great for taking pictures on occasions and other important unforgettable moments. It has a 3.2 Megapixel camera. It has LED Flash, Auto Focus and Smile Detection. It can also record video clips in 15 frames per second.

Internet
The Samsung Blade has great Internet connectivity and is an ideal phone for browsing. It’s got GPRS technology which is now the usual connectivity implemented in mobile phones. The phone has EDGE technology which is 4x faster than GPRS, currently the fastest technology that transfers data efficiently. It's got a WAP 2.0, XHTML and HTML browser too which displays almost like the desktop browser.

Memory
It is capable of storing 50GB of files, messages, songs, videos, etc. It has MicroSD memory card support up to 8GB.

Battery
Having all these great features, it is a great phone to have… except that it only has 2 hours talk time or 250 hours standby.

Overall, it is quite a disappointment when it came to its battery life. The battery life is also what makes or breaks a mobilephone. If you’re interested in other phones such as the more favorable Samsung Jet, you can get it on cheap Samsung S8000 mobilephone Jet offers. They are easily available on the Internet and you also get a free Samsung S5600 Blade mobilephone deal.

Sony Ericsson W302 - Music Phone With Better Calling Features

The Sony Ericsson W200i is the cheapest phone available, however it is quite old and outdated (not saying that it isn't good anymore). Well it sure served it's purpose and its still going great but have you ever felt a want to upgrade it? Not necessarily spending for the latest music phone powerhouse but just a phone that is a bit better on Internet and network capability than your original. I can recommend the new Sony Ericsson W302, although it is a bit costly for its features but its worth it. There are various Vodafone cashback offers that are abundantly available online, you can even grab a cheap Sony Ericsson W302 free line rental deals. Think of it like the W200i but only has better Internet and Network connectivity, meaning you can have better calling and browsing experience. Let's take a look at what the Sony Ericsson W302 has to offer.

Design:
Like the W200i, the Sony Ericsson W302 a simple solid bar design, looks sleek and looks refreshing to see a quite new design. It looks simple but certainly doesn't look cheap, it is 100 x 46 x 10.5 mm in size. The casing has a glossy look that doesn't look like plastic at all. The W302 weighs only 78 grams. The W302 has a 256k TFT Color Screen in 176 x 220 pixels resolution, displays clear images and vibrant colors.

Calling:
Like I said earlier, the better part is it's calling capabilities and it certainly excels better than the W200i. It has Quad Band network connectivity, utilizing 4 frequencies. These are GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900. This means the phone has good roaming capability allowing you to have great connectivity even in between countries.

Internet and connectivity features:
The W302 is also better in this part. It has EDGE technology which is allows high speed data transfers. With and average download speeds of 70-135 kilobits per second which 3x faster than GPRS, you can really breeze through the net. Open its built-in browser, WAP Browser, to easily access the Internet. The phone has USB and Bluetooth with Stereo A2DP support, with this you can easily plug those headsets on.

Messaging:
When it comes to sending and receiving messages, you can rely on W302. The keypads are easy to press and large enough for anyone's finger to fit in. They are ergonomic and looks cool too. The menus looks simple and easy to navigate. Given the ergonomic keypads, it's really comfortable to send messages. It can do SMS (Text Messaging) and MMS (Multimedia Messaging). It also has a predictive text functionality which is most preferred by busy texters.

Multimedia:
In exchange for the great messaging features, Sony Ericsson made a cut back on multimedia but it's not such a big deal. It has good features that you'll like from a Walkman phone. Well it's a Walkman phone so naturally it has its famous Walkman Music Player. The sound is still as good but it lacks tweaking features but you won't notice it that much as the Player emits great sound quality anyway. You can also watch Video Streaming and since the Internet capability is fast, you'll definitely enjoy watching online videos. The W302 has FM and AM Radio in RDS, a very good feature to passing time. The phone has a typical video player if ever you want to watch your video clips. It also has Embedded Games pre-installed if you want interactive entertainment.

Camera:

As for camera features, the W302 isn't much of a performer. It has an average 2 megapixel quality. It can take an OK quality pictures, better than no-megapixel camera I suppose. It has 2.5x Digital Zoom but unfortunately doesn't have a Flash. If you're an avid blogger you can use its Picture Blogging to easily send pictures to you blog.

Battery and memory:
The Sony Ericsson W302 has a great battery power supply that lasts up to 7 hours of Talk Time or 300 Hours Standby. It has a 20MB memory capacity but it can go up as much as 1GB or more as it has Micro M2 Memory support.

It's about time Motorola released another feature phone, although their old clamshell designed phones are still selling great but we need so something new and fresh! Well, the time has come fortunately for us eager users, especially those who want to find a new replacement for their old phones.

Introducing, the new Motorola ROKR EM30 a desirable phone for music lovers. It's got a very nice design, it looks cool and fits a hard rocker's style. The music features are amazing as well as its calling and messaging capabilities. It's aimed at giving the best music experience like a true mp3 player or maybe even iPod. It's a great phone not just for music but also for communication as the ROKR EM30 has CrystalTalk feature that makes your calls as clear as “crystal”, or so they say. Anyway, here's what the Motorola ROKR EM30 has to offer.

Design:
The Motorola ROKR EM30 has the features of a multimedia phone as well as a good communicator. The phone is compact, sleek and prety easy to navigate.
  • The phone is small in 115 x 53 x 10.6 mm size and weighs 100 grams.
  • It has a solid bar design, practical and comfortable to hold. Although the design looks generic, it's definitely an eye catcher due to its color themes and excellent detailed designs.
  • The EM30 has a good sized screen, it is 1.8 inch and it is a TFT QVGA 262k colors screen in 320 x 240 pixels. The screen is pretty small but it displays clear images and the texts are easily readable. Since its a music phone, its got a music capability.
  • The keypads are quite fancy, Motorola calls them Touch Sensitive Keypad with ModeShift. It's just actually a touch sensitive keypad, complete with regular keys but it changes once you go into music mode. The keypads turn different and change into a more comfortable music controls. Pretty fancy and looks cool. I find the touch sensitive keypads and the Modeshift very attracting, but I think many people will find it difficult to adjust to the new keypad style. It doesn’t give you the comfortable feeling of the old button pressing; it might give you a frustrating feeling.
Connectivity:
As for connectivity, the ROKR EM30 provides great usability.

  • It has amazing network connection for a music phone, it has Quad Band frequency, it has GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900. Having more than one frequency in one device is useful to enable roaming between different countries that peg the allowed transmission frequency at different values or to allow a better coverage in the same country. This basically means that you will have good connection when calling anywhere in the world and if you're inside a good coverage you can easily enjoy an uninterrupted calls.
  • Messaging capabilities is also an important function of a phone and the ROKR EM30 does a good job receiving and sending messages. It has SMS (Text Messaging) and MMS (Multimedia Messaging) support.
  • The phone can send and receive Email too.
Multimedia:
Now let’s talk about what makes the ROKR EM30 amazing.
  • It is equipped with a Music Player that can virtually play all common music file types; these are MIDI, MP3, AAC, AAC+, Enhanced AAC+, WMA, WAV, AMR NB and Real Audio specifically.

  • You can easily plug your Headset through its 3.5mm Stereo Headset Jack.
Camera:
The Imaging feature on the ROKR EM30 isn’t that revolutionary, but it gets the job done.
  • It’s only a 2 Megapixel Camera with 8x Zoom.
