Nokia E72 Mobile Phone Review


The latest in the E- Series, This phone was announced in June 2009 and released in October. The Nokia E72 is known as the muscular version of the E71.

So, this is what you can expect from this phone:

The E72 supports both 2G and 3g networks. The standard version works on GSM (2G) and on 3G HSDPA 900, 1900, 2100.

It weighs only 128g and measures 114 x 58 x 10 mm.

The 2.36 inch TFT screen displays 320 x 240 pixels in 16 M colors. Also on the front of the phone is a full QWERTY keyboard and a five way scroll key. There is an optical trackpad and an accelerometer for automatic rotating and tap-for-time function.


It also offers downloadable MP3, polyphonic and monophonic ringtones, a nice way to alert you to any incoming calls. You can also just set the phone on vibrate if you choice to do that. The headset has a speakerphone equipped with voice command, and has the popular 3.5mm headphone jack.

The pre-installed internal memory stores unlimited phone entries for 30 days, a micro SD card lets you up the memory to 16GB with hot swap.

Data handling occurs by means of the class 32 GPRS (100 kbps) and EDGE (296 kbps) on 3G transfer is possible at 10.2Mbps on HSDPA and 2Mbps on HSUPA. Standard Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g plus Nokia VoIP 3.0, Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP, micro USB v2.0 completes the suite. There is no infra-red port.


If you enjoy taking photos of family and friends, you’ll like the 5MP camera. This camera has autofocus and an LED flash the will take images up tp 259 x 1944 pixels. There is VGA video at 15FPS and a secondary camera.


There is a Symbian OS 9.3 and driving all of this is an ARM 11 600 MHz processor. Also 60 v3.2 User Interface.


There is SMS, MMS, email and instant messaging. WAP 2.0, xHTML, HHTML browser, GPS with A-GPS support and Nokia maps. Also a digital compass.

There is a stereo FM radio with RDS and Visual Radio. You can download games which run MIDI 2.0 Java. A video player is included which will run WMV, RV, MP4, 3GP files. The music player has MP3, WMA, WAV, RA, AAC and M4A.


There is also a Document Editor that reads Word, PowerPoint, Excel and PDF. Some other features are Push to talk, Voice command, Flash Lite 3.0, Organizer and Printing.

You get 12hours and 30 minutes of talk time and 480 hours of standby. The Li-Po 1500 mAh (BP-4L battery allows for plenty of storage.


The Nokia E72 allows you print from the headset which is a plus for business men. Finally, Nokia has decided to give the customer more color choices. The Nokia E72 comes in Topaz Brown, Metal Grey, and Zodium Black. After all, not all business executives are men.
